What is “Hône ArtLab”


“Hône ArtLab” is an cultural institution that works for the development and diffusion of art through youth. Our headquarter is located in the city of Hône,
Hone.html
a small village in north-west Italy. This is the first initiative of its kind in the Aosta Valley region. The project was born from the idea of a group of young people and is supported by Municipality of Hône and Aosta Valley Council for Social Politics.




The goals of “Hône ArtLab” are:

  1. •To create a space where young artists coming from several social contexts start a dialogue and exploit their creative potential through the experimentation and innovative use of art media;

  2. •To offer a favorable context and infrastructure adapted to creation and exchange, recognizing the importance of the bind between art and society;

  3. •To create a network of collaboration between cultural Institutions, promoting a constructive intercultural dialogue;

  4. • To help young artists to place themselves in the professional circuit of art.

Residence 2008


“Hône ArtLab 2008” will host artist that express themselves using visual arts, such as painting, illustration, design and photography, and it will take place in the city of Hône from September 15th until December 15th. 

The alpine context in which artist will submerge during the residence period can influence their own art production and it could be the starting point for a cultural interaction between the invited artists and the local community, that ought to be socially profitable for all.

The territory of Hône is strongly characterized by its geography and history, distinctive elements from the region that are reflected in the everyday life and activities of the population. The artists-in-residence program intends to create a space, both physical and conceptual, where the guests can work in their own projects under the influence of the particularities of the zone that hosts them, building a dialogue with the local community that takes to a reciprocal exchange and increases experience and knowledge.

“Hône ArtLab” intends to support young artists in their production and to extend their network. The project proposes itself as an articulator for a dynamic youth participation in cultural and artistic activities, giving visibility to the young art production and its unquestioned validity in the Art world. To contribute to this specific aspect, workshops will be organized, where the insertion of youth in the international art circuit will be amply discussed, putting artists in contact with professionals that work with contemporary art issues. Always inside the workshop schedule, people who are able to offer a vision of the historic and natural aspects of the region will be invited to give lectures and presentations, in order to suggest a panorama of the local characteristics.
